Year 4, Session 1, Week 5
Week 5 was all about exhibition prep and tying loose ends as we wrapped up session 1. Our learners had a fabulous first exhibition of the year and we can’t wait to see what the next one brings!
Building the Tribe
It was a shorter school week but still jam packed! Our tribe came together to create paper flowers as the last art piece to go on display for exhibition. In the last five weeks they have created work in the style of Henri Matisse, painted the Blue Moon, made yarn planets, and tribal art.
The Little Heroes baked pumpkin bread for parents and guests. They have enjoyed learning how to read recipes and practicing fine motor skills such as cracking eggs.
The ES finalized and signed their studio contract this week. The contract lists the promises they came up with and agreed to hold each other accountable for. The document was made to look like a historical artifact using coffee and torn edges!
Our Elementary Heroes had the responsibility of being the oldest learners on site when it came to exhibition prep. They underwent the tasks of assigning roles, creating a schedule and pamphlets, writing scripts, and leading the little heroes through mock exhibitions. They rose to the occasion and shined brightly!
Lastly, we had a kindness challenge in the ES studio. The elementary heroes were challenged to demonstrate kindness to their peers throughout the day and affirm peers, in writing, who were caught doing kind acts. The written votes, combined with verbal feedback from the Little Heroes studio, decided the winner. The Little Heroes overwhelmingly recommended Charlie for the kindness challenge for helping them throughout their day. Way to go Charlie for being a “Kindness Champion” and earning an eagle buck!
