Session 6, Week 6, Year 2
For the last quest of the year, we have elected Quest Leaders to led it for the session! We have had two meetings prior to the last session to prepare. Here's what our meetings entail:
Quest Leader requirements for next meeting
The leaders expect each other to come to the meetings on time and prepared.
The week's launch is to equip the Eagles with a simple, but powerful, framework for providing feedback. This is important because feedback becomes exponentially more effective if framed in a way that offers:
How will they use this tool?Whether they are an entrepreneur, running a school, a doctor, an independent filmmaker or an engineer, they're going to be building a tribe or operating within one. The learners ability to effectively communicate with other people will likely be an integral component of their success.
This week, the Little Eagles had a challenge to make a new friend! We took advantage of the opportunity with the public schools being out on Monday and invited the Little Eagles to join them during their camp day! The learners have expressed to us that it is difficult sometimes to go up to new people because they are shy. Friendships developed during the preschool and early school years give them valuable contexts in which to learn and practice skills related to social, cognitive, communicative, and emotional development.
One of badges for the upper elementary school eagles is the Leadership Foundation badge! They have to read a book called Growing my Leadership Garden and complete all the activities and challenges within it. The end of the book ask the Eagles to share an intentional practice that they will incorporate in their life! Here's what one of our Eagles submitted:
My practice will be to write my values on a piece of paper and read them every morning.Every night I will look back at them and reflect how I did achieving them.My values are:Respect- try- be a light- do your best- be kind- just take the first step- stay gentle, we are all fighting a war- Lead!
Every other Friday we set up a surprise for the Eagles if they complete the challenge. This Friday, the surprise was an egg decorating party and cookies! Even though not everyone was able to go, they talked about having a growth mindset and how they will improve next time! Great job Eagles!
